Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

Which version of Vinaigrette Salad Dressing pleases you most? Classic, simple, creamy, balsamic or half oil and vinegar? I prefer the half and half for a zestier taste.


Half Oil and Vinegar

  • This is my favorite salad dressing and it’s so easy to make! Submitted by Scott Willey Maine, USA
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2/3 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 tsp white sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 or 2 large garlic cloves minced


  • 1 tsp grated onion
  • 2 Tbsp vinegar of your choice
  • 1/3 cup olive oil or vegetable oil of your choice
  • 1 tsp fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 tsp green pepper finely chopped
  • 1 tsp pimento finely chopped
  • 1/8 tsp salt or to taste
  • dash of pepper or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp mustard

Variation: add 2 hard-boiled egg yolks, crumbled


    • 1/4 cup of vinegar
    • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
    • 1/2 tsps minced garlic
    • salt and pepper to taste

    Cream Variation:

    • Add 1/4 cup of cream and shake vigorously. Use the light pouring cream or plain light cream if you are dieting.

    Balsamic Variation:

    • balsamic vinegar
    • 1 Tbsp sugar
    • 1/4 cup fresh basil chopped.


    Method for all Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well or use a jar and shake well. Serve over salad or vegetables. Refrigerate extra dressing.
