Grilled Beef Salad

Grilled Beef Salad (Nu Yang Nam Tok) is a Thai hot salad that will drive your taste buds crazy with so many delicate tastes.  I can only suggest you try it and see for yourself.

Ingredients

  • 1 – 10 oz (280 grams) New York strip steak
  • 2 Tbsp ground roasted sweet rice
  • 1 1/2 oz (40 grams) fresh lemon juice
  • Fish sauce to taste
  • 1 tsp nam prik poaw (chili paste)
  • Dry red or fresh chili peppers (season to taste, usually 1-2 chopped chili peppers or 1/8 tsp will do)
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onion
  • 1/8 cup chopped green onion (scallions)
  • 1 fresh tomato, cut into wedges
  • 3-4 pieces of leaf lettuce

Instructions

Grill the steak as you like it, then slice into thin (1/8″ – 3mm) pieces.

Place all ingredients except the rice and lettuce in a large mixing bowl. Toss well.

Place the lettuce on a serving bowl.

Place the salad mixture over the lettuce.

Sprinkle the sweet rice over the top.

Garnish with tomatoes
