
This Grilled Angel Cake Recipe features a sweet apple glaze over bananas and angel food cake. These easy to make dessert kabobs are fun for kids and adults alike.
Ingredients
1/4 cup of apple jelly
1/4 cup of apple juice
1 (11 oz.) angel food cake
3 bananas
Method
Mix jelly and juice in a saucepan. Heat on low, stirring constantly until jelly melts.
Cut the cake into 2-inch cubes.
Cut the bananas into 1 1/2 inch pieces.
Thread cake and banana pieces onto skewers, alternating between the two. Fill 4 skewers with the pieces.
Grill for 3 minutes over medium, then turn and grill until lightly browned.
For variety, try pineapple or peaches instead of bananas or mix up the glaze with raspberry jelly and orange juice.
Tip: If using wooden skewers, make sure to soak in water for 30 minutes so they won’t burn.
