
For an easy grilled turkey dinner, try this Drunken Turkey Recipe that uses a can of beer in a standard turkey sitter. Just set it up on the grill for hands-free cooking, allowing you to prepare side dishes or simply enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.
Ingredients
- 1 (10 lb) whole turkey, thawed
- 2 tsp dry mustard
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 1 (12 oz.) can of beer
Instructions
Set grill burners to indirect medium heat and allow to warm up.
Remove the neck and giblets from the turkey.
Rinse the turkey in cold water, then pat dry inside and out.
In a small mixing bowl, combine mustard, onion powder, paprika, coriander, cumin and pepper. Mix well.
Rub the inside cavity of the turkey with the spice blend.
Rub the turkey skin with canola oil, making sure to cover completely.
Sprinkle the remaining spice blend over the outside of the turkey.
Open a can of beer and place inside a turkey sitter.
Slide the turkey onto the sitter, then place on the grill.
Make sure the turkey remains balanced upright on the sitter.
Close the grill lid and cook for 2 1/2 hours.
Turkey is done when internal temperature reaches 170F degrees.
Allow turkey to rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Tip: If the turkey touches the lid of the grill, place a sheet of foil on the inner lid to protect the turkey.
