Crockpot Roast Beef produces an inexpensive meal of tender, succulent beef that carries the same nutritional value as the most expensive beef.
Ingredients
- 5 lb chuck roast (or any cheap cut of beef)
- 2 cans French onion soup
- 16oz beer (Guinness works very well)
- 2oz (1 shot) whiskey
- 2 beef bouillon cubes (stock cubes)
Method
Braise roast in 400F (220C) pre-heated oven for one hour.
Place roast and all other ingredients in slow cooker set on high for first hour and then reduced to low. Stir a bit and simmer 4-5 hours.
Note: Roast can be cut up in chunks to fit in crockpot. After simmering it will be very tender and broken in pieces.
Serve with vegetables and a glass of full bodied red wine like Cabernet Sauvignon (fruity) or Shiraz (spicy).
