Easy Cabbage Slaw Recipe for a Quick and Healthy Side Dish


Cabbage Slaw

Cabbage slaw is easy to make in a skillet on your stove top. Vinegar adds an unexpected bit of tang. Serve hot or cold.
Servings: 6


  • 1/4 C butter
  • 1/2 t season salt
  • 1 head of cabbage shredded
  • 1/4 white onion chopped
  • 3 T of vinegar
  • 1 T sugar
  • 1 carrot shredded (optional)


  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Stir in salt.
  • Add cabbage, onion and carrot, stirring to coat all with butter.
  • Cover, reduce heat to medium and cook for 15 minutes, stirring often.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together vinegar and sugar.
  • When sugar has dissolved, pour mixture over cabbage and stir well to blend.
  • Cook until vinegar mixture is thoroughly heated, about 5 minutes.
