Breakfast Biscuit Recipe

The traditional Breakfast Biscuit Recipe gets a flavorful addition with ground sage and pepper blended into the batter. Serve alongside bacon and eggs for a special Mother’s Day morning she won’t forget.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of cold whole milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cup of flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground sage
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 3/4 cup chilled unsalted butter, cut into pieces

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425F degrees.

Whisk egg and milk together in a small bowl until well combined.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, sage, pepper and butter pieces.

Blend ingredients using your fingers into pea-sized lumps.

Pour in the milk and egg mixture and stir until moist clumps form.

Flour your hands and knead the dough about 6 times or until it holds together.

Roll the dough out to ½ inch thickness on a floured cutting board.

Flour a round cutter and cut out 12 biscuits.

Arrange the biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet.

Bake 10 minutes until golden brown.

Makes 12 biscuits.
